Wikus Claassens now leads the Round Table Secunda 231
Altus Deport received the trophies as Tabler of the Year as well as the best club supporter.
Wikus Claassens was inaugurated as the new chairman of the Round Table Secunda 231 on Saturday, March 12.
The induction dinner was held as a black-tie affair at the Bosveld Lapa Restaurant during which the outgoing chairman, Anton Pretorius, handed over the reins to Claassens.
Claassens said in his acceptance speech he is a man of few words for whom things are either black or white.
“Something is either right or wrong. You are either committed to the work or not,” he said.

Claassens thanked the tablers for their confidence in him and spoke of their brotherhood and support of each other.
It was clear from Pretorius’s outgoing speech and year report that the table had a good year in 2021 despite the Covid restrictions.
They raised more than R300 000 from several projects such as hosting a golf day and a fishing competition and working at the Misty Waters Festival at Lake Umuzi.
This money was used in their charity work within the community, such as their schools’ project and a milk project by which they deliver milk to needy families.

The Round Table also holds a countrywide winter drive each year to supply blankets to those in need.
Pretorius, who must now join the 41nners club, wished his successor the best for the task ahead.
He also handed out special trophies to the hardworking members of Secunda 231.

Altus Deport received the trophies as Tabler of the Year as well as the best club supporter.
Martin Olivier was awarded the accolade for best attendance and Ruan van der Merwe was given the trophy for the best project of the year.
Claassens and Pretorius specifically thanked the women in the lives of the Round Table members for their dedication and support.
Claassens also announced his committee for this year.
