Help the visually impaired in Standerton to lead a dignified life

This non-profit organisation, focuses on enabling the blind to lead a dignified life.

Mpholosa Association teaches the visually impaired life skills and Braille to enable them to be independent members of society.

Timothy Maboa of Standerton does not like the term ‘blind’ and has identified a much-needed upgrade for their facility.

“The girls are getting older and separate bathrooms will protect their privacy,” Maboa said.

He added that with the current bathroom, the girls might slip, fall and hurt themselves.

The association’s main branch is in Ermelo and this non-profit organisation, focuses on enabling the blind to lead a dignified life.

It was established in 2019 and covers activities such as mobility, orientation, social intervention, computer training and counselling.

Maboa was not born with a disability, but was attacked in Sakhile in 1984.

He was hit on the right eye and sustained injuries to the left eye as well.
