Illegal dwellers and people dumping rubbish illegally are becoming a problem for residents living in the area around the green strip behind the Redidge Plaza (Palms) shopping centre in Protea Street.
Apart from the grass being nearly 2m long, rubbish can be seen everywhere on the pathways in this green strip.
Illegal dwellers were also living there under a tree a one stage.
Ms Mariaan Chamberlain, DA councillor, said the illegal dwellers were removed and she did inform the relevant department about the rubbish being dumped there.
The Ridge Times asked the communications department of the Govan Mbeki Municipality for comment and also when the grass will be cut again and when something will be done about the illegal rubbish dumping.
They will respond as soon as they receive information from the departments involved.
