
Motorists on their way to Meyerville on Tuesday, May 17 saw welcome activities in Nelson Mandela Drive.
According to Corné Stoltz, ward councillor, the sponsor Piet Boer from Standerton and Lekwa Municipality joined hands to repair potholes on this busy route.
Workers set about the task with the concrete mix and Nick Iavocou from SuperSpar in town sponsored food for the workers.
According to information, a pothole of sizeable proportions can take up to half an hour to fix, of which this road has quite a number.
Traffic towards and from the suburb, as well as to and from Vrede and Volksrust were diverted.
At a recent press briefing, the executive mayor, Louis Delani Thabethe, singled out Nelson Mandela Drive, the R50, the road in front of Pick n Pay and Hlongwane Drive in Sakhile.
Thabethe said these roads had already been identified for either patching of potholes or complete upgrading.
