GMM’s acting head for communication, Lucky Mhlongo said: “GMM will not comment further on the matter until we find a solution to the problem.”

In response to the Ridge Times’ article published May 27, Residents live in a swamp in eMba, GMM’s acting head for communication, Lucky Mhlongo said: “GMM will not comment further on the matter until we find a solution to the problem.”

This came after the children of one of the residents residing in an RDP house in eMbalenhle Ext22, pleaded with the Ridge Times to assist them with a four-year battle of living in water.

Several residents in Ext22 are surrounded by swamp-like land making it impossible for them to use their outside toilets and in some cases not have access to their homes.

Residents have also suffered a financial loss of furniture damage by the level of the water surrounding their homes.

Since the article had been published on the Ridge Times Facebook Page readers had this to say:

“That is disgusting. Gmm, you are worth nothing to let this happen.”

“I wonder how they eat under such bad smell coming out of the sewer day and night you breath poison that place needs to be filled with gravel soil to keep the water away.”

“And then GMM has the audacity to moan about people cutting trees… a useless bunch.”

“What worries me is the owner of the house is not well.”

“That place is not up to standard to build a house on in the first place.”

The Ridge Times will follow the developments regarding this story.
