Sgt Connie Moganedi, the spokesperson for the Cullinan Police, said in a media statement the police members were performing their normal daily duties on June 9 when they came upon a suspicious-looking couple.
They decided to stop and search them and found a firearm and ammunition in the man’s bag.
The suspect apparently could not provide a license for the firearm or ammunition.
The police then arrested the man.
The man will soon appear in the Cullinan Magistrate’s Court facing charges of the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
“Management at the Cullinan Police thanked and encouraged all members to leave no stone unturned in the fight against crime in the Cullinan policing area,” said Moganedi.
