Unemployment crisis in Standerton’s township addressed
Altogether 250 locals will be employed for Early Childhood Development (ECD) programmes and 100 locals will conduct surveys.
Seriti Institute and Lekwa Employment Association finalised contracts of employment for local residents at the Thusong Centre on July 13 at 9;30.
“It forms part of giving back to the community,” Peter Mzizi, communications officer of the Seriti Institute, said.
According to Mzizi, they are facilitating development and stimulating the township economy.
A total of 250 locals will be employed for Early Childhood Development (ECD) programmes and 100 locals will conduct surveys.
Locals will be trained as caregivers and a care-giving network will be established, while créches will be identified.
Companies such as Goldi and Meadow Feeds in Standerton have come on board to fund some of these programmes.
“Seriti is in the process of establishing other programmes for the community,” Mzizi added.
Agricultural skills will be taught to local residents as well.
