Danger looms for elderly woman from Ext 4 in Sakhile

The woman cannot afford hiring a private electrician to connect the electrical meter box inside her RDP house and do proper wiring inside the house.

A time bomb is ticking for an elderly woman at eMa-9 in Ext 4.

This is the viewpoint of the concerned councillor, Gibson Zulu from Ward 2.

According to him, he reported the electrical situation more than once.

The woman cannot afford hiring a private electrician to connect the electrical meter box inside her RDP house and do proper wiring inside the house.

The covered meter box is lying in the back yard of the house after the shack was demolished.

The box reportedly makes funny sounds.

Zulu said this is dangerous and it needs to be moved into the house.

The Standerton Advertiser requested reference numbers, which were supplied, and contacted Thando Nkosi at the communications department of Lekwa Municipality on Thursday, July 14.

The reference numbers and address were supplied.

An attempt was also made to contact the resident, but the connection was broken once the newspaper identified itself.
