Shihan teaches at karate training camp in Kinross

Sensei hopes training camp will keep children off the streets.

KINROSS – Karatekas of the Universal Shotokan Karate Union (USKU) clubs in Kinross, eMbalenhle and Secunda, took part in a training camp hosted by Shihan (master) Sifiso Sindane.

Sensei Aquilar Dhlamini of the USKU dojo in Kinross, said they organise these training camps to invest in the children.

“Taking part in karate, can bring many opportunities for these children,” said Dhlamini.

“They get to travel, as we recently went to Port Elizabeth for the national karate championship and they can also get bursaries to study at university.

“The Bible says an idle mind is the devil’s workshop.

“If these children keep themselves busy with a sport such as karate, they will not have time to do drugs or other wrong things.”

The karatekas learnt new skills at the training camp and had the opportunity to practice their existing skills.
