Standerton cricket makes for good results
Another match took place later the day and Standerton CC came out tops after beating Elukwatini convincingly by 133 runs.
The second team of Standerton Cricket Club recently beat the first team of Elukwatini CC at the Piet van den Berg-oval by 69 runs.
The scoreboard read 190/5 in 20 overs for the home team, compared to 121 runs, all out in 19.1 overs. This was a Group A match of the Gert Sibande District.
Elukwatini opted to bowl and Jan-Dirk van Dyk managed 53 runs off 42 deliveries, Louis Bibbey a respectable 42 runs off 19 deliveries and Dayne Young 24 runs off 23 deliveries.
Nathi Magagula took two wickets, conceding 38 runs, Hamza Naeem one wicket, conceding 25 runs and Abid Hussain one wicket, conceding 37 runs.
With bat in hand, Naeem scored 53 runs of 40 deliveries, Mzwakhe 14 runs of eight deliveries and Mthobisi 14 runs of 20 deliveries.

Standerton’s bowlers had Van Dyk taking three wickets, conceding 10 runs, Werner Mouton taking two wickets, conceding 18 runs and Young taking two wickets, conceding 15 runs.

The scoreboard read 195/6 in 20 overs, while Elukwatini made 62 runs, all out, in 12.3 overs.
Standerton opted to bat and Young scored 60 runs of 37 deliveries, Mouton 51 runs of 37 deliveries and WJ Smith 39 runs of 26 deliveries,
Hussain took three wickets, conceding 30 runs, Xolani Nkosi two wickets, conceding 25 runs and Sibusiso Manana one wicket, conceding 17 runs.

Standerton’s bowling attack was seamless with Mouton taking four wickets, conceding 23 runs, Johardt Swanepoel taking three wickets, conceding only six runs and
Van Dyk taking two wickets, conceding 10 runs. Magagula scored 16 runs of 13 deliveries, Naeem 11 runs of nine deliveries and Nkosi eight runs of seven deliveries.
Standerton CC1 and Sasol 2 Bulldogs competed against each other at the cricket grounds of Hoërskool Standerton on Sunday, October 16.
The home team was victorious in both matches, winning by 28 and 16 runs respectively. The full result will be published as soon as possible.
