Parkrunners in Standerton take on route in tutus

Siyabonga Kamhelo finished first in a time of 18:28.

Most of the 68 participants of parkrun at Standerton River Park put on a tutu on Saturday, October 22.

“We want to raise cancer awareness and a tutu goes off well with the two-two of October,” explained some of the 13 volunteers.

This 163rd parkrun had 10 people reaching their personal best times.

Siyabonga Kamhelo finished first in a time of 18:28, followed by Johan Ferreira (26:20), Sinethemba Manana with a new personal best time of 27:50, Zakkai Wessels with a personal best of 28:45, and Theo Schönfeldt (29:09).

The volunteers who made the event possible were Charl van Wyk, Elmien Vermaak, Francois Streicher, Frans Vermaak, Johannes Vosloo, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Nienke Swart, Preyanka Dorasamy, Renette de Sousa, Ronnie Moodley, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg and Vanita Moodley.
