Police catch two car thieves in Botleng
While speaking to this unknown man, two suspects got into the vehicle and drove off, leaving the victim and his friend stranded in Tau Street.
An unexpected incident occurred when two friends drove down Tau Street in Botleng. The victim was apparently driving in his red VW Polo in Botleng at around 02:45 on Monday, October 24.
The two friends suddenly had to stop for an unknown man standing in the middle of the road.
With the car idling and the doors open, the two climbed out of the Polo to find out what was wrong.
While speaking to this unknown man, two suspects got into the vehicle and drove off, leaving the victim and his friend stranded on Tau Street.
The victim then went to the police station to report the theft of his red VW Polo. The victim later informed the police that his vehicle was seen in Botleng’s Mandela Section.

As the police members were en-route to Mandela Section, they noticed the red VW Polo turning onto the R42.
The cops tried to stop the vehicle but were unsuccessful.
A chase ensued on the R42 to a point where the suspects abandoned the vehicle. The Delmas Police managed to arrest one suspect at a filling station in Botleng.
The other suspect tried to evade arrest by scaling a high wall at a nearby funeral parlour. He slipped and fell off from the top wall and broke his leg. The police arrested him.
The culprit was taken to the Bernice Samuel in Delmas under police guard.
The two suspected car thieves, ages 27 and 34, appeared in the Delmas District Court on Wednesday, October 26.
