VF+ Councillor opens case against speaker of Govan Mbeki Municipality for alleged death threat

Fikile Magagamela allegedly replied that she was only joking.

Aranda Nel-Buitendag, a Freedom Front Plus (VF+) councillor in Secunda, opened a case at the police against the speaker of Govan Mbeki Municipality, Fikile Magagamela on Thursday, December 8.

Magagamela allegedly threatened Nel-Buitendag at a council meeting on Wednesday, December 7 by saying she was going to kill her.

This comes after their was an argument between the councillors and the speaker about leave and DA councillor, Encee van Huyssteen was removed from the council meeting on the speaker’s instructions.

Magagamela asked Nel-Buitendag why she did not support her during the argument and Nel-Buitendag said it was a matter between the speaker and the DA.

Magagamela then leaned over and allegedly whispered to Nel-Buitendag that she would kill her.

Nel-Buitendag later send Magagamela a message and said she views the threat in a serious matter to which Magagamela replied that she was only joking.

The VF+ views this matter in a serious light and cannot accept such behaviour from the ANC.

The Ridge Times newspaper asked Lucky Mholongo and Donald Green of the communications department for comment on this matter, but neither of them responded.
