Case against Secunda security officer postponed
The director of public prosecution must decide on charges.

A security officer appeared before Magistrate Faith Kekana in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder on July 11.
The magistrate postponed the case to August 18 for the Director of Public Prosecutions decision.
The case comes after an incident where a security officer, who works for a local security company, allegedly shot and killed a man on November 23 last year along Nelson Mandela Drive.
The man was treated on scene and rushed to hospital by ER24. He later died from his injuries.
The security officer also received treatment at a local hospital for injuries he sustained. The police arrested him on the same day.
According to police, the firearm used in the incident belonged to the security company that employed the security officer.
