Cullinan hosted a wine-tasting event on August 12 and 13 in Oak Avenue.
Over the past few years, Cullinan became known for hosting wine tastings. This weekend was no different as the village hosted Mont Pellier on Saturday and Sunday as part of their tourism boost initiative.
Wine tasting is the sensory examination and evaluation of wine.
While wine tasting is as ancient as its production, a more formalised methodology was established from the 14th century onward.

Modern, professional wine tasters use a constantly evolving specialised terminology to describe the range of perceived flavours, aromas, and general characteristics of a wine.
The more informal, recreational tasting may use similar terminology, usually involving a much less analytical process for a more general, personal appreciation.
The wine-tasting event promoter introduced a Pinot Noir, a white (non-vintage) blend, and a Red Bordeaux blend.

Local musician Jimmy Wiggins added some flair to the weekend with his vocal talent.
Ward 100 councillor Johannes Bekker said, “We need to entertain our visitors and tourists to ensure they return to Cullinan. There is so much to offer in the area, and it is important to combine our skills in tourism.”
Some visitors included the Porsche Cub, an old vintage car club, and others from Gauteng. Oak Avenue was buzzing with local and international tourists alike.
“Think outside the box; create menu items that will tantalise our guests’ taste buds and ensure they leave with more than they expected,” empathised Bekker.
