Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant has temporary shut down
The City of Tshwane requests residents to use water sparingly.
The Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant was temporarily shut down on December 9 due to the deteriorated raw water quality, caused by the recent heavy rain.
They will monitor the situation closely and once the quality of the raw water improves, the treatment plant will be back into operation.
During the temporary shutdown period, the following areas might experience low pressure or no water: Bronkhorstspruit Town, Cultura Park, Ekandustria, Ekangala, Masada, Rethabiseng, Riamarpark, Thembisile Hani Local Municipality and Zithobeni.
Roaming water tankers will be dispatched to these affected areas. The City of Tshwane apologises for the inconvenience encountered as a result of this temporary shutdown.
They urged residents to continue making water conservation measures part of their lifestyle, such as irrigating gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00, not washing vehicles with hosepipes, and not filling up swimming pools and residents.
They also requested residents to install a low-flow shower head and tap aerators where possible.
