Bronkhorstspruit SAPS talks safety to learners

The learners at Laerskool Du Preez van Wyk were taught what to do if something goes wrong at home or school.

The Bronkhorstspruit SAPS embarked on a safety awareness campaign on February 21, and Warrant Officer Sanet Lourens led it at Laerskool Du Preez van Wyk.

Lourens emphasised the necessity of safety in and around the school and at home.

Officers told the children to know the numbers for emergency services like the police and an ambulance.

They should keep the contact numbers next to the phone or stored in cellphones.

They also told the learners not to climb into vehicles with strangers, not to open doors for anybody they do not know, and to report any suspicious persons or parcels.

The school practised emergency drills for bomb scares and fires and how learners should act when something happens at the school.
