311 suspects were arrested over the weekend during an operation in Bronkhorstspruit area

These police activities included patrols in crime-prone areas, inspections for compliance, and crackdowns on illegal alcohol sales.

The Tshwane police embarked on an operation on June 8 and 9 within the Bronkhorstspruit area where they arrested 311 suspects for various crimes.

Brigadier Samuel Thine, the acting district commissioner of Tshwane continued to work tirelessly to keep the community of Tshwane safe.

Warrant officer Johan van Dyk said, “These police activities included patrols in crime-prone areas, inspections for compliance, and crackdowns on illegal alcohol sales.”

By the end of the weekend, 248 individuals were arrested for offences such as assault, house burglary, public drinking, driving under the influence, and armed robbery in normal day-to-day police actions.

Additionally, 15 undocumented immigrants were detained for deportation, and three persons were arrested for employing illegal immigrants.

During this operation, 67 individuals, 23 vehicles and six premises were searched, resulting in the arrests of 14 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol and three arrested and fined for drinking in public.

Two high-density operations were conducted in the Bronkhorstspruit and Akasia policing areas and were particularly successful in addressing specific crimes in their respective precincts.

“Officers deployed to patrol the Bronkhorstspruit area, inspected seven liquor premises, closed one outlet, and confiscated 30 390ml of illicit liquor as it was not complying with liquor regulations,” said Van Dyk.
