Youth in Evander encouraged to work hard in school

Zanele Mahlangu, a social worker, pleaded with the youngsters not to follow friends down this path, because it might be difficult to turn back.

As June marked Youth Month, the youth from the Christ Embassy Church in Evander held a Youth Day celebration in their church on June 15. They were motivated by people in different careers such as a social worker, an engineer and a doctor.

The speakers encouraged young people to take their schooling seriously and not to be attracted to drug abuse.

“Many young people are blaming themselves for decisions they took because of friends. Some are now drug addicts and they cannot come out of it.

“I want you to start planning your future now and decide what you want to be in the future,” said Mahlangu.

Ntsoaki Motopela, the event organiser, thanked on behalf of the church all those who contributed to making the event a success.
