Hawks clamp down on drugs in eMbalenhle

Drugs to the value of R110 000 were confiscated.

A 34-year-old suspect was arrested near Kgotso Hall in eMbalenhle during an intelligence-driven disruptive operation conducted by the Hawks-based Secunda Serious Organised Crime Investigation’s Secunda Crime Intelligence and Secunda Dog Unit (K9), on July 3.

According to the police, the information was received and actioned regarding a suspect in possession of drugs.

The team identified the suspect and found drugs and cellphones in his possession.

They confiscated drugs to the value of R110 000 and arrested, charged and detained the suspect pending his court appearance.

Provincial head Major General Gerber applauded the multidisciplinary team for the seizure.

“Another consignment of drugs destined for distribution was removed from the market. This will affect the suppliers, and as the Hawks, we will continue our fight against narcotics. The investigation is continuing,” said Gerber.
