Standerton AfriForum takes part in operation

Several security organisations, including Afriforum Neighborhood Watch teamed up for a two-day operation. Several arrests were made and the goals of this initiative were achieved.

Several role players from the Standerton community took part in Operation Vala Umgodi over the weekend of October 4.

The operation focused mainly on safety and compliance in the Morgenzon, Davel, Bethal and eMzinoni areas.

Overall 54 members from different organisations took part in this two-day visibility operation, including Vispol members, detectives from each of the involved police stations, crime intelligence, ORS mobile operation unit, AfriForum and the CPF.

The goal of this operation was to alleviate crime rates in towns by way of visibility.

According to a press release by AfriForum, police used this operation to search several bars, taverns and pubs for illegal substances.

A tavern in Morgenzon was shut down for selling alcohol without a liquor licence. Several bars, pubs and taverns in Davel and eMzinoni were fined due to the same issue.

The role players also found a 28-year-old illegal immigrant in Morgenzon. In eMzinoni, the SAPS arrested a person for posession of illegal substances and confiscated crystal meth.

“Operations like this help to strengthen our community, it shows our perseverance as a community and that we will not back down in the face of crime,” said Shandré van den Heever, leader of the AfriForum Standerton Neighborhood Watch.
