Hawks arrest Bangladesi in Leandra area for possession of stolen goods

The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Unit received a tip-off that led them to a farm near Leandra.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on October 25 by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit based in Secunda when boxes of suspected stolen goods, mainly food items and detergent, to the value of R500 000 were found in his possession.

The Hawks received information about a truck that was offloading the stock at a farm near Leandra and they followed up on the lead.

They found two Bangladesh nationals at the farm. One man was interviewed and then arrested. Hawks arrested one.

The Hawks confiscated all the stolen goods and a white Hino truck. The man appeared in the magistrate’s court in Leandra on October 28.

The Acting Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation in Mpumalanga, applauded the members of the Hawks in Secunda for the arrest and seizure.
