Buhle Farmer’s Academy honours its summer graduates
“We as students are not only prepared for jobs; we are prepared to build a farming business.”
The Buhle Farmers Academy celebrated 61 students during their summer graduation on November 14 at the Buhle Farm, Leeupoort Small Holdings, in Delmas. Partners and sponsors joined in the day of celebration.
During her opening speech, the executive director, Zamo Shongwi, thanked Buhle’s partners. She also said to the graduates they now had the skills to start a business in farming.
“Use what you have and remember that Buhle is always there for your support,” she told the graduates.
Established in 2000, Buhle Academy provided courses in vegetable production and livestock and animal health poultry farming.
During the 2024 summer graduation, 18 students graduated in vegetable production, 22 in livestock and animal health, and 21 students in poultry farming. According to a Buhle graduate, Robert Thema, Buhle training truly lives up to its promise.
“We as students are not only prepared for jobs; we are prepared to build a farming business,” said Thema.
The newly-skilled graduates received certificates and gifts from Buhle partners and left in high spirits to pave their way to a sustainable future in farming in South Africa.
