“Rietkol Primary serves a historically disadvantaged community within our host area, requiring targeted support to bridge the educational gap.”

Learners and teachers from Rietkol Primary School in Eloff waited in anticipation for their new school uniforms to arrive.

On the morning of November 13, the Tlou Coal group representatives arrived at the school to donate uniforms to needy learners in the foundation phase, grades R to three.

Before the formal handover, the mine representatives went on a tour through the school premises, and afterwards, everyone gathered for the formal handover.

According to Busisiwe Sikhonde, the human relations officer at Tlou Coal, the corporate social investment (CSI) initiative aims to promote educational inclusivity, dignity and equality.

“Rietkol Primary is the chosen beneficiary for our CSI initiative because of its pressing needs. Rietkol Primary serves a historically disadvantaged community within our host area, requiring targeted support to bridge the educational gap. By supporting this school, we want to create a lasting positive impact on the community,” Sikonde explained.

“This gesture demonstrates our commitment to supporting local communities in line with our company mission to create sustainable, high-quality employment and lasting positive impact in local communities.”
