Lekwa residents receive title deeds to their RDP houses

According to Lubabalo Majenge, communications officer for the LLM, the title deeds are for low-cost housing that is allocated to RDP beneficiaries.

Several residents rejoiced on February 7 when the Lekwa Local Municipality handed owners of RDP homes title deeds to their properties.

Residents were invited to the mayoral parlor of the municipality’s main building to receive the deeds to their homes.

Executive Mayor Sifiso Mngemezulu headed the event along with Sesana Masondo, MMC for planning and economic development, and acting executive manager for planning and economic development, Jaco Prinsloo.

According to Lubabalo Majenge, communications officer for the LLM, the title deeds are for low-cost housing that is allocated to RDP beneficiaries.

“The title deeds are handed over once they are received from the Department of Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs.”

Majenge described the residents’ reaction to receiving their title deeds as deeply grateful.

“They are happy to finally obtain security of tenure and assurance of full ownership.”
