Incomplete hall left to rot in Ext 8, Standerton
Lubabalo Majenge, spokesperson for the LLM, stated that the municipality is currently unable to open the hall to the public, as the project has not yet been officially handed over to them.
A community hall in Ext 8 is standing empty, unable to be used by the community, dangerous trenches meant for the sewer and water pipes installation left opened.
There are allegations that the contractor left the incomplete work because of non payment.
A security guard who was securing the hall, claims he was never paid by the contractor since he started guarding the hall on agreement to paid monthly salary in 2018.
Stacks of building material were still on the premises.

The team inspected the community hall. While the hall appears to be in relatively good condition, signs of deterioration have started to emerge due to a lack of use.
Lubabalo Majenge, spokesperson for the LLM, stated that the municipality is currently unable to open the hall to the public, as the project has not yet been officially handed over to them.
“We are still in discussions with the Department of Human Settlements regarding this matter,” Majenge explained.
