eMbalenhle family left devastated after house fire
The Ngubeni family is being sheltered by kind neighbours, but they are in dire need of support.
The Ngubeni family of eMbalenhle is appealing to the public for help after a devastating house fire on the afternoon of March 24 left them with nothing.
According to Annah Molefe, a family member, the cause of the fire remains unknown. Her husband, Michael Ngubeni, (65), and their 35-year-old son were at home when the fire broke out.
Ngubeni sustained burns to his lower body and was rushed to the Evander Hospital for treatment. He was discharged on March 26.
“I was terrified when I got the call at work that our house was on fire. My main concern was the safety of my son and my husband, especially given his physical condition. My husband suffered a stroke some years ago, and I was worried whether he would be able to escape the fire,” said Molefe.

Upon arriving at the scene, Molefe was met with the horrifying sight of flames erupting from the house’s windows.
The community and firefighters were already battling to extinguish the blaze.
“Once the fire was finally put out, the extent of the damage became clear. Everything was destroyed, We lost our clothes, blankets, and furniture. Worse, the roof of our house was destroyed,” said Molefe.
The Ngubeni family is being sheltered by kind neighbours, but they are in dire need of support. Molefe is appealing to the community and local businesses to assist them in rebuilding their lives.
They need of clothes, blankets, furniture, and materials to repair their home. Anyone who wishes to offer assistance can contact Annah Molefe on 076 122 9192. The Ngubeni family hopes that the community will rally around them in this time of great need.
