Law enforcers nab two for card fraud in Standerton
After the efforts to arrest these criminals, the acting provincial commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi, commended the teamwork between the SAPS and KSS.
The SAPS provincial commissioner’s office in Mpumalanga released a media statement detailing a case of two people arrested for card scamming on March 30.
On March 29, the Standerton SAPS and Kasselman Security Services (KSS) received a tip that fraud suspects occupied a vehicle with GP registration plates.
According to the statement, they stole a community member’s card at a local ATM. When community members saw the vehicle at a local filling station, they allegedly assaulted the criminals to retrieve the card.
The criminals allegedly robbed a woman of her belongings, including bank cards, and withdrew R1 800 from her bank account.
The fraudsters were arrested with the cash on hand and appeared in court on March 31.
After the efforts to arrest these criminals, the acting provincial commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi, commended the teamwork between the SAPS and KSS.
“These partnerships ensure perpetrators can swiftly be brought to book,” he said.
