Police in Charl Cilliers nab trio for stealing maize
The Charl Cilliers SAPS have warned farmers of the new trend.
The Charl Cilliers police arrested three men for stealing maize.
According to the Charl Cilliers SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Nompumelelo Dlamini, the thieves’ new modus operandi is to get to the middle of the field and start harvesting maize from there, so it is not visible to the farmers.
The thieves then leave the maize in bags in the field of a local farmer to collect later.
The police warned farmers of this new trend. Dlamini urged farmers to call the Charl Cilliers SAPS on 082 494 4756 or 082 772 1895 if they see suspicious people, vehicles or activities on their farms.
