Alleged stock thieves caught red handed near Delmas
The Stock Theft Unit impounded the seven cows found on the suspects’ trailer for further analysis.
Information was received that a herd of cattle was being loaded on May 10 at around 11:50 on the R548 near Devon.
The information stated the owner was all by himself and ready to confront the alleged cattle thieves. Members of the AfriForum Delmas Valke Proto Team, along with members of the reaction team, swiftly responded to the scene.
The owner of the cattle met the team upon arrival. The owner confronted and apprehended two suspects who attempted to flee the scene.
The team intercepted a white Toyota Hilux single-cab bakkie with a trailer, loaded with seven cows. The cows were still bearing the owner’s breeder tags on their ears. A black Hyundai i10 fled the scene, and the team presumed the vehicle might be connected to the attempted cattle theft.
