Kosmos Retirement Village will celebrate its 70th anniversary with four days of festivities from September 23 to 26, marking seven decades of providing accommodation and care for senior residents in the Standerton community.
Established on September 24, 1956, by the community for the community, Kosmos has grown into a retirement village offering a full range of living options, from independent accommodation to frail care.
The village includes townhouses, apartments, bachelor units, annex rooms, assisted-care units and a fully staffed 24-hour Care Centre.
The anniversary celebrations will be held under the theme, “Honouring the Past, Providing for the Future,” and aim not only to celebrate the milestone, but also to recognise the people who helped build the retirement village, thank the broader Standerton community for its continued support, and raise funds for the future.
The programme begins on Wednesday, September 23, with a birthday cake celebration for residents and staff.
A walk and fun run will take place on Thursday, September 24, starting at 07:00 from Laerskool Standerton’s Haas Das Kindergarten.
Participants can choose between a 1km route for R20 or a 4.9km route for R30.
The event is open to walkers and runners alike and suitable for participants of all ages and fitness levels.
