Campaign warns community of Bronkhorstspruit about theft, fraud and drug-related crimes
The Bronkhorstspruit police took to the streets with an awareness campaign aimed at curbing vehicle-related crimes, fraud and drug activity, calling on car guards and motorists alike to be vigilant.
To combat crime, the Visible Policing commander’s office in Bronkhorstspruit organised an awareness campaign on May 28.
Lieutenant Colonel Sibonisile Mlaba led the campaign with support from the Department of Community Safety ambassadors and Social Crime Prevention.
“The community was sensitised about theft from motor vehicles, common and business robberies, fraud and drug-related crimes,” said Constable Cathrine Ramovha, the corporate communication officer at the Bronkhorstspruit SAPS.
Mlaba urged car guards to help in crime prevention and report suspicious activity, allowing the police to keep their work areas crime-free.
Mlaba advised drivers never to leave valuables unattended or visible in their cars and to lock their vehicles before entering businesses.
“As part of the awareness campaign, the group patrolled the N4 highway to prevent hijackings, robberies and spikings,” Ramovha concluded.
