eMbalenhle ECD centres march to Police Station in support of Child Protection Week

The purpose of the march was to remind police officers of the critical need to prioritise cases involving children and to raise awareness about the rights, safety, and well-being of young children.

About 26 Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres in eMbalenhle took to the streets on June 12 to mark the annual Child Protection Week with a peaceful march to the local police station.

The purpose of the march was to remind police officers of the critical need to prioritise cases involving children and to raise awareness about the rights, safety, and well-being of young children.

Helen Rasidibe, one of the organisers from Mmabana Daycare Centre, emphasised the vulnerability of children and the role of caregivers in their protection.

“Children are the most vulnerable members of our society and need to be protected. As Early Childhood Development centres, it is our responsibility to educate and look after them.

“Parents have entrusted us with their children, and we must ensure they are safe, nurtured, and cared for,” said Rasidibe.

She added that the march also aimed to promote stronger child protection efforts at both family and community levels.
