A new fleet helps Lekwa electrical teams respond quicker to power faults and service delivery issues.
In a move to improve response times to service delivery issues, the Lekwa Local Municipality handed three new bakkies to its electrical division on June 20.
According to Lubabalo Majenge, the municipality’s communications officer, the handover is a significant step toward strengthening the division’s capacity.
Mayor Sifiso Mngemezulu, who led the ceremony, said, “This handover is about equipping our teams to serve the community faster and more effectively. We are investing in the tools that keep the lights on in our homes.”
Phello Mohlamonyane, the acting executive manager for corporate services, stressed the importance of maintaining the fleet and ensuring it benefits the community.
Several representatives from the electrical department, including Thuli Makhubu, Marks Mabunda and Henk Pretorius, said the vehicles would significantly improve their response times to electrical faults.
