It was a colourful display of bowlers from all over with 40 players on the Bronkhorstspruit greens.

The Bronkhorstspruit Bowls Club had the privilege of hosting the Perfect Delivery Gauteng Open Men’s Pairs tournament for the first time in the club’s history.

The event took place over two days on July 5 and 6. It was a colourful display of bowlers from across the region, with 40 players competing on the Bronkhorstspruit greens.

Teams participating in the tournament came from clubs in Pretoria, Wingate Park, Ermelo, Parys, Benoni, Brits, Bryanston, Linden, and Rustenburg.

The tournament featured four sections—12, 14, 21, and 25—with six teams in each. According to Bronkhorstspruit Bowls Club president Danie de Klerk, it was Bowls Gauteng North’s turn to host the 2025 event.

“Bronkies were selected to host the 2025 Open Men’s Pairs as well as the Men’s Singles tournaments, and it was an absolute honour,” said De Klerk.

The Perfect Delivery Men’s Singles is set to take place in Bronkhorstspruit on July 12. Izak Stone and Stefan Brink from the Pretoria Municipal Bowls Club won their section and secured a place in the playoff at Wingate Park on July 21.

“I feel honoured and actually humbled to be part of this prestigious event. I am extremely grateful to every member of the club for working together in such a special way—to make every visiting player feel welcome and to give their all in support of bowls as a sport,” said De Klerk.

De Klerk also thanked Katrien van Rooyen from the Villieria Bowls Club for her dedication as an umpire during the event.

“The men had a great time bowling, eating, and socialising. There was a healthy and incredible camaraderie among them, even though the teams were opponents — all the glory to God,” De Klerk concluded.
