Man appears in Evander court for double murder in Kinross
His case was postponed to August 21 for further investigation.
Sifiso Khumalo appeared before the Evander Magistrate’s Court on July 15. He faces charges for murdering his 17-year-old stepdaughter, Nomvula Mayisa, and the earlier killing of his pregnant girlfriend, Dibuseng Madela (34).
Khumalo was initially arrested on May 23 after Madela’s body was discovered in a pool of blood at her home in Kinross Ext 21, Marikana section.
Blood spatter was visible on the walls, and Khumalo was apprehended while trying to evade arrest.
Following his arrest, the police were led to another shack linked to Khumalo in the Marikana section, where they made a grim discovery.
Officers forced entry into the locked structure and found Nomvula’s semi-decomposed, naked body on a bed, covered with blankets and with her legs open.

She had suffered severe head injuries, including a deep wound and a crushed forehead. The police found a bloodstained pipe wrench (bobbejaan spanner) near the bed, which they believe was used in the attack.
Police suspect Khumalo raped the teen before killing her.
Preliminary findings suggest Khumalo and Nomvula had recently argued over his intention to sell the shack previously owned by Nomvula’s late mother.
The teenager reportedly opposed the sale, concerned about the future housing of her younger siblings. With these developments, Khumalo now faces a double murder charge. His case was postponed to August 21 for further investigation.
