Police search learners from Rethabiseng before camp

The police searched 91 Grade 12 girls at Mpumelelo Secondary School before a school camp departure, but found no illegal items.

The office of the acting station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Sibonsile Mlaba, Crime Prevention and Social Crime Prevention members and Gauteng Traffic Wardens searched learners at Mpumelelo Secondary School in Rethabiseng before they departed by bus for a school camp on July 11.

The entities searched 91 Grade 12 girls during the operation.

“The search aimed to confiscate illicit objects and drugs. Nothing was seized and the school management appreciated the support of the police,” said Constable Cathrine Romovha, the corporate communication officer for the Bronkhorstspruit SAPS.

Then on July 14 the entities once again searched 78 Grade 12 boys from the Mpumelelo Secondary School before boarding the bus for their camp.

During this search a learner was found in possession of a bag of space cookies.

According to Ramovha the school indicated that the principal will deal with the action and appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken.
