Students perform dance styles at annual JSD dance show in Evander

The annual JSD Dance Show, which was recently held at the Evander Club, prepares students for the upcoming dance competitions and events.

Julie-Ann’s School of Dance (JSD) students showcased their styles in the annual JSD Dance Show, held recently at the Evander Club.

The annual dance show prepares students for upcoming dance competitions and events, including the Dance, Talent, and Modelling Association (DTMA) provincial trials and nationals, the American Dance Awards, and more.

JSD students participate in about nine competitions throughout the year.

“Such recitals help the dancers get the feel of what a competition is about and boost their confidence to perform in front of a large audience,” said Julie-Ann Maudlin, JSD owner.

Students danced in styles of hip-hop, freestyle, modern, contemporary, disco, acrobatics, jazz and lyrical. The dance show is also a dress rehearsal, in preparation for big events, that entails make-up and costume changes.
