Do not leave personal belongings in vehicles – Secunda SAPS

Ensure you have no valuable belongings in your vehicle when leaving your vehicle unattended, as criminals are using apps to locate electronic devices, according to the Secunda police.

Police have issued a warning to motorists following a rise in theft out of vehicles in the Secunda CBD. Hotspots include local gyms, the mall, and the SuperSpar, where thieves are targeting parked cars for valuables.

SAPS warns that storing electronic devices, such as laptops, in your car boot is unsafe. Criminals are reportedly using apps to detect these devices and remote jamming tools to prevent car doors from locking.

Drivers are urged to double-check that all doors are properly locked and to remain alert to their surroundings.
