Standerton soccer star Mzwake Tshabalala seeks support for Dubai trials

He plays for TS Galaxy GDL, a club team that competes against top South African sides such as the Pirates and Chiefs.

Mzwake Tshabalala (19) is a talented young soccer star who discovered his love for the game in Standerton when he was just 12 years old.

In 2024, he was spotted by the founder of the Tshabalala Soccer Foundation, Bafana Tshabalala, while playing for his local team, Kabasa.
Mzwake grew up in Standerton’s Ext 7.

“He is the most gifted player I have ever seen; he can read the game like no other,” said Bafana Tshabalala.

Mzwake now plays for TS Galaxy GDL, a club team that competes against top South African sides such as the Pirates and Chiefs.
He has been thriving in his role at TS Galaxy.

“I am extremely excited for what’s to come,” Mzwake said.

Though the life of a professional soccer player can be demanding, Mzwake continues to play with heart and determination. He recently had the opportunity to travel to Dubai, where young players underwent a month of assessments with various teams.

While the initial travel costs for Mzwake’s first trip to Dubai were covered in full, he now needs financial support to return for the second round of assessments in November. These costs are estimated to range from R30 000 to R40 000.

The Tshabalala Soccer Foundation is appealing to the community for assistance. Anyone willing to contribute towards helping Mzwake return to Dubai is asked to contact Bafana Tshabalala at 081 754 1430.

“Even the smallest donations can help towards the goal of making this young, talented player’s dreams come true,” said Bafana.
