Two new clinics for Kinross and Lebohang communities
The Kinross Clinic will be built in Ward 17, while the Lebohang Clinic will be located next to the community hall in the RDP section.
Mpumalanga Health MEC Sesekane Manzini, Gert Sibande District executive mayor Walter Mngomezulu, Govan Mbeki executive mayor Nhlakanipho Zuma and local traditional leaders conducted a sod-turning ceremony on September 12 to mark the start of construction of new clinics in Kinross and Lebohang.
The Kinross Clinic will be built in Ward 17, while the Lebohang Clinic will be located next to the community hall in the RDP section, making it the second clinic in Leandra.
According to the department, both facilities form part of ongoing efforts to expand access to primary healthcare services in the municipality, in line with achieving universal health coverage (UHC). The clinics are expected to ease pressure on hospitals, improve population health, and strengthen the overall healthcare system.
Addressing the community, Manzini urged residents to take their health seriously by undergoing regular check-ups for early detection and treatment of diseases.
“The Cheka Impilo campaign will continue to reach more people, and we encourage everyone to join the department in this initiative so that it achieves positive health outcomes,” said Manzini.
The Cheka Impilo campaign is a national health initiative encouraging citizens to take an active role in their health by promoting screening and testing for HIV, tuberculosis (TB), sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like hypertension and diabetes.
Launched in December 2018, the campaign provides accessible primary healthcare services through door-to-door outreach, mobile clinics, and temporary stalls to ensure that everyone can be screened, learn their status, and access timely treatment.
