Cyclists enjoy night ride in Secunda

Community supports Epic for Orphans Campaign.

About 120 cyclists lined up at Seeff’s offices for the Epic for Orphans Campaign night ride on September 16. Cyclists could decide how far they wanted to ride, and Seeff sponsored boerewors rolls for all participants.

The idea for the Epic for Orphans Campaign began when two local adventurers and cyclists, Renier Louwrens, who also took part in the Survivor reality series on MNET in 2021, and Maree Verhoef, had the chance at the last minute to enter the well-known Absa Cape Epic last year.

More than 250 people from the Secunda community followed their updates on social media and were encouraged by the duo. After this journey, the two, together with Billy and Anne-Lize Fick from Seeff, came up with the Epic for Orphans Campaign.

They decided to use their love for cycling to inspire and uplift their community and to collect money to upgrade facilities at places of safety for orphaned children.

A big relay cycling event will take place in November, and cyclists can take part in this race to show their support.
