Parkrun in Standerton marks milestones

Tharina Maree celebrated her 250th parkrun.

The 320th Riverpark parkrun was a morning of milestones and celebrations on Saturday. Veteran Tharina Maree, who runs in the 75-79 age group, celebrated her 250th parkrun, which she completed in 55:57.

Volunteers also had fun dressing up groom-to-be Theo Schönfeldt, who is getting married this weekend. Ten parkrunners achieved personal best times. They were Bongane Mpokane (17:15), also the first finisher of the 5km; Mphikeleli Aaron Steven Makhubo (28:16), Simon Ntuli (28:23), Kamogelo Sephiri (40:27), Xerchius van der Merwe (40:48), Charmain Kleynhans (40:50), JP Kleynhans (40:52), Judith Magdalena Kruger (43:54), Kitso Sephiri (46:48) and Busi Maseko (48:26).

Riverpark also welcomed nine first-timers and visitors, including Robert-Jan Stutterheim from parkrun World Tourists and Martin Gouws from Magnolia RR.

The volunteers who made the event possible were Andre Eagar, Martin Gouws, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Danie Laufs, Susan Laufs, Richard Mabaso, Lydia Roets, Zeldine Strydom, Robert-Jan Stutterheim, Marjorie Uys, Johannes Vosloo and Daniel Wright.
