Golfers swing into action at Evander

Walker Park Golf Club has been buzzing with numerous events recently held. Players gave it their best shot in a fundraiser, a corporate golf day and the juniors in the Highveld Group golf day.

Money was raised for the Old Apostolic Church on October 11 and 44 players teed off in this event. The format played was shotgun, four-ball full American scramble.

Schalk Burger, Chaldon Nel, Henriette Burger and Vian Burger were the winners on 57 points. Neil de Lange, Tanya de Lange, Tokkie Reyneke and Kobus Reyneke finished second on 55 points.

Former Springbok rugby player Bakkies Botha was also in action on the fairways in the corporate golf day held on 15 October.

One hundred and twelve players teed off in this event, which was a four-ball alliance, scramble drive with two scores to count.

The winners were Niel de Lange, Tanya de Lange and Tokkie Reyneke on 121 points. Second place was Rudolph Smith, Stefan van Staden, Thys Swart and Jaun van der Walt on 117 points.

Sixty juniors also had their day on the greens in the Highveld Group golf day played on 16 October. It was a nine-hole competition. Results were not available at the time of going to print.
