Lekwa Local Municipality renovates its main building
The work includes replacing the floor tiles, adding customer seating, setting up a new reception desk, installing a TV and repairing and repainting the walls.
The Lekwa Local Municipality (LLM) is renovating its main building at a cost of R250 000.
According to Lubabalo Majenge, the LLM spokesperson, these renovations include replacing the floor tiles, adding customer seating, setting up a new reception desk, installing a TV and repairing and repainting the walls.
The main building was closed for renovations from October 7 to 17. Though the bulk of the renovations are complete, it is only expected to be fully refurbished by December.
These renovations are a welcome improvement, as the building had deteriorated.
According to Majenge, the tiles had started to lift and break, the wall paint had started to peel off, and staff encountered many safety risks.
“These improvements aim to provide a safe, clean and conducive service environment,” stated Majenge.
He said these renovations also impacted residents who regularly use these facilities to pay bills and make enquiries.
