Fire station in Standerton receives essential equipment
Leon Enslin, chairperson of AfriForum Standerton, said the tow bar will help the fire brigade in towing essential equipment to any scene.
Local farmers donated a second tow bar to the Standerton Fire Brigade to be fitted to their bakkie on January 23. Leon Enslin, chairperson of AfriForum Standerton, explained that the tow bar had to be resized to fit the bakkie.
“This tow bar will help the fire brigade in towing essential equipment to any scene,” explained Enslin.
He said this will give the fire brigade a more hands-on approach during the dry winter season, as they can now tow a tank with up to 500l water to fires.
He also explained that the fire brigade previously lacked this essential resource. As a result, they could not tow their generator to important scenes such as the boat that got stuck on the dam wall in late December.
“This tow bar will enable them to respond to emergency calls more quickly and with the essential equipment needed to provide their service,” stated Enslin.
