Drug bust in Botleng pays dividends

The search paid dividends when the police confiscated a large number of drugs and money.

A suspect was arrested in Botleng, Delmas for the possession of drugs.

An intelligence-driven operation was conducted on Friday, August 12 at around 03:30 by members of Crime Intelligence in Pretoria, the Middelburg K9-unit and members of the police in Delmas.

According to Capt Carla Hartley, media spokesperson for the Delmas Police, they identified a house in Botleng as a place from where drugs might have been sold.

Some observation was done before the team went in and searched the property.

The search paid dividends when the police confiscated a large number of drugs and money.

A total of 88 small zip lock bags containing cocaine, 60 heroin pinches, 135 grams of dagga and an undisclosed amount of money were found inside the premises.

The police seized the drugs and money.

One suspect, Bongani Bethuel Ndaba (29) was arrested and taken to the Delmas Police Station.

Ndaba appeared in the Delmas District Court on Monday, August 15 to apply for bail.

According to Capt Hartley, bail was R1 000.

The case was postponed until Monday, September 12.
