Four people murdered in eMbalenhle on one day

Mthethwa said when they checked on them, they discovered that both had shot wounds on their bodies and both were declared dead.

Four men were murdered in different incidents in eMbalenhle on January 27.

The first two men were found dead near eMbalenhle Primary School in Ext 2 on the morning of January 27.

They have been identified as Patrick Mahlangu (32) and Siyabonga Mhlongo.

Constable Busi Mthethwa, the eMbalenhle police spokesperson, said police received a call about two men lying on the street near the school. When the police found the bodies, the dead men were on their backs.

Both had been shot. Mthethwa said the police opened two murder dockets. No one has yet been arrested.

A 27-year-old man died at the clinic in Ext 4. He was allegedly shot in Ext 25 and then taken to the clinic, from where a nurse alerted the authorities.

According to Mthethwa, the police found the dead man with a gunshot wound to his chest. The bullet was still stuck between his ribs.

He was declared dead, and the police opened a murder case.

No arrest has been made, and the investigation continues.

Another 27-year-old man was stabbed to death at Ext 22.

Mthethwa said the police were called to a fight happening at Ext 22.

The police found the deceased lying in a pool of blood with 11 stab wounds in his body. He was declared dead on the scene.

Mthethwa said a murder case was opened, and the police arrested four suspects.

They appeared before the Evander Magistrate’s Court on January 30 and the case was postponed to February 6 for bail application.

A fifth suspect is fighting for his life in Witbank Hospital after the community allegedly used petrol to set him alight. He was badly burnt.

The police are investigating a case of attempted murder against the person who set fire to the man.

Mthethwa said police also opened a culpable homicide case after an unknown man was allegedly run over by a security company vehicle on January 28, in Ext 17 eMbalenhle.

Mthethwa said the police found the deceased lying on the street. His head was bleeding.
