Robbers bomb ATM in Leandra

Gunmen flee with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.

Police in Leandra are investigating the bombing of an ATM at a filling station in town.

This happened at midnight on January 2.

A gang of armed robbers stormed the filling station, where they then blew up the ATM and stole an undisclosed amount of money.

Although shots were also fired off during the robbery, no one was injured.

The acting commander of the Leandra Police, Captain Vusi Mabena, said no arrests have been made yet.

He said the suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes from the garage shop.

Mabena asked anyone with information about the suspects to contact the Leandra police on 017 638 0045.

He also warned the community not to try to apprehend the suspects because they are armed and dangerous.
