Trio nabbed on R547 near the 50/50 crossing after a remote jamming incident in Secunda
In a joint effort between Jelane, Secunda Flying Squad, N17 Emergency Response and Kinross Police the thieves were stopped and apprehended when they turned off the R580 onto the R547 to Kriel.
Three men were arrested on the R547 near the 50/50 crossing at around 17:42 on January 23, following a remote jamming incident in the parking lot at the Family Pick n Pay at Driefontein Centre in Secunda.
Members on emergency groups were asked to be on the lookout for a silver Mini Cooper with registration number LGM004MP, suspected to be used in the theft of goods out of other vehicles.
Two off-duty Jelane Security employees spotted the Mini Cooper, with three people inside, at the T-junction of Joe Slovo Street and Ahmed Kathrada Drive in Ext22.
The employees followed the trio towards the R580 past the water reservoirs and stayed on their tracks.
Secunda Flying Squad and N17 Emergency Response were hot on the trail following the leads of the suspects’ location.
In a joint effort, the thieves were stopped and apprehended when they turned off the R580 onto the R547 Kriel road.
A laptop, five cellphones, a carton of cigarettes, two jackets, and a remote were recovered.
